An idiom spoken to me during my search...unlike my birth records, the irony of its origin and double-meaning is not lost on me...or any adoptee.
This is for Illinois - confused!
OK HB2634 would restore the rights of Oklahoma born adult adoptees unconditional access to their original birth certificates, just like other states such as OR, Maine and New Hampshire have recently passed, and is supported by The Child Welfare League of America. It has passed the OK House and is awaiting a hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee. Just encouraging OK to join other states who are restoring obc access to adult adoptees.
I really hope it passes the Senate. Adoptees have the right to their OBC's and the government should not place any hinderence on this right. One day if we try hard enough all people adopted or not will have their OBC as their only BC.
