Words spoken during my search as an adult adoptee...meaning,
to be caught between two points
Idiomatically, it means having
no significance or influence
on the question at hand.
What Adoptees Wish Church Communities Knew from Christian Alliance for Orphans on Vimeo.
Oh Lord...I wish Sherrie Eldridge would realize most adoptees detest her speaking for them.I also wish she would shut her pie hole and stop making money off of shoving kool-aid down the throats of adoptees and their adoptive parents.
Linda, I agree that "celebrating" adoption as it is practiced today is like "celebrating" loss. Adoption has become a money-driven "business" to build families, at the expense of the unnecessary separation of children from their families of origin. It is driven by demand, sadly, and that creates a very unethical environment of coercion and untruths. The scriptures in the Bible which were translated as being "adopted" into God's family, could have been much more accurately translated from the original texts as "reunited", or "sonship" rather than "adoption." I am glad that Sherrie is at least opening the door for this discussion in churches.
Can we say WTF? and wonder who this person thinks they are? Talk about wanting to scream and throw things.... I only got into it about a min and wanted to hurl.Sigh, I give up.
Sherrie is the self-appointed spokesperson for the "happy adoptee." Most of her writings will give you the same symptoms, Lori. Avoid them like you'd avoid someone with the flu.
